Book Review: Altered Traits by Daniel Goleman and Richard J. Davidson

This book was really fascinating! I am a big fan of meditation, a practice I started a few years ago that has really helped me live in the moment and reduce my stress levels. So when a friend suggested this book on the science of meditation, I was immediately interested. (Which means I immediately ordered it online!)

The authors have a long history of trying to understand the power of meditation, dating back to the sixties. They discuss the history of meditation (from a US perspective), dating back to the sixties, which was a very different time. I found it really interesting how they brought their research ideas to Harvard and had to really push to be able to do research on meditation, how it works, why it works, long-term effects etc.

This book doesn't provide specific examples of how to meditate successfully. Still, it provides an overview of its extensive history and the reported scientific benefits of meditation practice. It covers different facets of meditation and contains research the authors have conducted and other practitioners' research.

So if you're interested in understanding a little more about how meditation impacts you, check out this book.
